Time Out says

Whether you’re a big fan of the majestic bird or know little about them, Peacock Power: Beauty and Symbolism Across Cultures aims to uncover everything about the distinguished creature and its importance in Asian culture. From ceramics to clothing to intricate jewellery, the exhibition features over 100 remarkable artefacts from the National Collection and more to help chart the peacock’s influential journey and impact across the continent. The exhibition delves deep into the dazzling bird’s symbolism and significance in Peranakan art, particularly how it has shaped wedding ceremonies and traditions. The mesmerising showcase also boasts a newly commissioned artwork by Singaporean artist and photographer Ernest Goh. Titled Thousand Eyes, the work is a reinterpretation of the peacock motif with an ecological perspective.

Aside from the exquisite collection on display, there’s also a chance to get hands-on. As you make your way through the exhibit, discover the different types of peacock species and their behaviours with holographic technology and interactive stations. Keen to learn more on your visit? Keep an eye out for the museum’s curated public programmes, or join in on the guided tours that will shed light on the stories and items featured.
