Make your weekends extra special by taking your family or partner to the Flower Dome at Gardens by the Bay - because they deserve it. Admire the Precious Peony floral display that also features over 70 artefacts of Chinese and Peranakan culture. The peonies showcase is a tribute to the journey of the flower from China to Nanyang, as it made its way south with Chinese immigrants searching for a new home. The beautiful peonies gathered from Japan, Israel and the Netherlands.
Also expect a recreation of a Chinese garden, a Peranakan shophouse and artefacts of Chinese and Peranakan culture on display as well. The artefacts are loaned from the Peranakan Museum, The Intan and the Society for Ceramic Studies. One of the highlights at the showcase is the antique blackwood bench inlaid with mother-of-pearl, an example of fine furniture found in homes of wealthy Chinese Peranakans. Look through other items that are unique to the Chinese Peranakan culture including kasut manek (hand-beaded slippers), chupu (covered jars), tingkat (tiffin carriers) and bakul siah (wedding baskets).
