Geylang Serai isn't the only place amping up the festivities this Ramadan. Kampong Gelam is also celebrating with five experience pillars: food, retail, lights, entertainment and community. Set to be the biggest edition since its debut in the 1960s, this year's Kampong Gelam Ramadan Bazaar – aka Raikan Cahaya Ramadan which translates to “celebrating the light of Ramadan” – features over 100 booths including 86 F&B stalls serving up kuih, satay, seafood and trendy snacks, and 23 retail booths selling modern arts, traditional crafts and clothes. Besides your bellies, feast your eyes on the iconic façade of Masjid Sultan as it illuminates in projection lighting every weekend. While you're at it, check out the aerial light show at the Sultan Gate where drone-controlled LED kites with kaleidoscopic lights dazzle onlookers.
What’s Ramadan without self-reflection, sacrifice and community? Wrapping up the event is a 10-day charity drive where you can donate pre-loved clothes, non-perishable foods and home essentials which will then be distributed to the less fortunate at the end of the holy month.
