For the 11th edition of its annual sakura display at the Flower Dome, Gardens by the Bay is welcoming a crew of iconic Japanese characters alongside it. Meet with your Sanrio favourites, Hello Kitty, My Melody, Pompompurin and others as you transport yourself to Japan's Ishikawa Prefecture. Wander through landscapes inspired by its historic districts, framed by 30 different types of cherry, peach and plum blossoms in pink and white hues. Plus, hidden among the display is a special rain installation that mimics Ishikawa’s famously wet weather climate, which you can walk through.
Beyond the blooms is a curated series of programmes that highlight six distinctive Japanese regions, such as Tohoku and Shikoku Island, to fully immerse you in the country’s diverse heritage and culture. Look forward to traditional Japanese tea ceremonies, mochitsuki demonstrations and folk and dance performances. There will also be a movie screening of the Studio Ghibli classic Castle in the Sky for guests of all ages to enjoy.
Then, round out your visit with Anime Garde, a two-day festival happening on March 21 and 22 at the Flower Dome and Supertree Grove. Expect a concert with rising J-pop acts, meet-and-greet sessions with international cosplayers, and a marketplace to get all your anime fix. Check out the full lineup here.
