Over three weekends, the Bras Basah.Bugis (BBB) precinct takes on a new life as the sun sets. Back for its 17th edition, the Singapore Night Festival returns with a fantastical twist, featuring a programme inspired by myths, legends and folklore from Singapore and across Southeast Asia. Expect larger-than-life installations, live performances and immersive experiences that bring stories of the Merlion, Sang Kancil, La Galigo and many other legendary figures to life, turning the arts and museum precinct into an enchanting wonderland after dark.
Among the highlights is Tales of Earth and Sea, in which the façade of the National Museum is transformed into a giant animated canvas that celebrates regional folklore. Be sure to keep an eye out for the mysterious Birdmen, too, as the flock of towering winged creatures roam the festival grounds nearby.
Then, transport yourself to 14th-century Singapore at Fort Canning Park as you embark on a 70-minute archaeological journey that uncovers the forgotten myths and stories hidden beneath Bukit Larangan (aka “Forbidden Hill”), where former Malay kings and rulers were believed to be buried.
