Time Out says

Asian Film Archive’s annual programme dedicated to short films is back again. For its 8th edition, Singapore Shorts brings together 18 works made between 2025 and 2026, as chosen by a multidisciplinary panel spanning creative fields such as printmaking, sound design, and film.

The selected films are split into four screening sessions, each running for a little over an hour. Among the featured titles are the Southeast Asian premieres of Eric Teo’s thesis film, Hourglass, and Jessi Goh’s Ibu, a 20-minute documentary that follows the life of local drag icon Kak Nina Boo.

In addition to the selections, there is also In Transit — Expanded Cinema, an evening that pairs silent short films by emerging Singaporean filmmakers with live music. Biru, the DIY project comprising members Iqbal Rohan, Nashrudin Shariffudin, Farizi Fauzi, Daniel Borces and Mateen Azlan, will put their own spin on each film with an improvised soundtrack that draws from genres such as jazz, krautrock, drone and more.
