There’s nothing quite like sinking into your seat and letting the Singapore Symphony Orchestra (SSO) wrap you in sound. This November, the orchestra returns to the Esplanade Concert Hall with two captivating concerts that promise a full spectrum of feels – grandeur, grace and goosebumps guaranteed.
First up, on November 7, the legendary Sir Stephen Hough takes the stage for the Asian premiere of his own piano concerto, The World of Yesterday. Prepare yourself for a sweeping, nostalgic soundscape that feels like stepping through time, before the night crescendos with Saint-Saëns’s epic Organ Symphony, powered by Singaporean organist Isaac Lee and Associate Conductor Rodolfo Barráez.
Then, on November 14 and 15, preeminent Finnish conductor Hannu Lintu returns to the podium for the first time since his appointment as the SSO’s Music Director-designate. Together with the Singapore Symphony Choruses, Hera Hyesang Park (soprano), Virginie Verrez (mezzo-soprano), Elgan Llŷr Thomas (tenor) and Edward Grint (bass baritone), he’ll deliver Haydn’s uplifting Nelson Mass and Mahler’s radiant Symphony No. 4, a heartwarming celebration of harmony and humanity. The concert also marks the celebration of the Singapore Symphony Choruses’ anniversaries, making it even more special.
Tickets start from $15 for Stephen Hough Piano Concerto + Saint-Saëns Organ Symphony, and $38 for Hannu Lintu conducts Nelson Mass + Mahler 4. Get yours now.
