Earlier this year, Seletar Mall garnered a ton of buzz online after it hosted an indoor cycling race. Well, now, the Seng Kang shopping mall is back at it again, keeping the adrenaline going with a brand-new late-night spectacle. For four days, the mall is organising Singapore’s first-ever overnight Skatecross Downmall Challenge, which turns its space into a rollersports playground after hours. The event welcomes beginners and experienced inline skaters of all ages, offering dedicated spaces for skating tryouts and a rollercross race for children. Skates are also available for rent, making it easy for newcomers to participate.
But the main highlight is the race itself, which begins at 10pm on Friday and ends at 6am the following day. Expect a thrilling multi-level obstacle course, as seasoned skaters take on the ramps, technical sections and a custom-built slide around the mall. The competition features five categories, including Women’s Open and Weekend Warrior. There are also Novice and Advanced categories open to skaters aged 12 to 17 years old. Although registration to take part in the race is closed, you can still be part of the adrenaline rush as you cheer your favourite skaters on from the sidelines.
