The Dragon Awakens: 2024 Light-Up

Marina Bay Sands is known for its truly spectacular festive light-ups, and it’s taking things to the next level at the upcoming Lunar New Year event. Held at the heart of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, The Dragon Awakens: 2024 Light-Up will see the reveal of two majestic 40-metre-long dragons in front of a 15-metre-tall Dragon’s Gate. Framed by 88 koi fish ornaments, a dragon’s pearl, and 28 lotus lanterns, the decorations illustrate The Legend of the Dragon Gate – where a carp that perseveres upstream is said to transform into a powerful dragon once it crosses the dragon’s gate. Besides the light-up, you can look forward to dragon and lion dance performances, koi dancers, a performance by Nathan Hartono – and at 8pm, a dazzling drone light show at the Marina Bay waterfront (happening on selected dates till February 18).
