And yes, in case you’re wondering about the name, the store – started by four students in 2020 – originally sold fishing equipment. Though they still sell fishing supplies, they’ve pivoted to sell trendy Gen Z drinks, snacks, and candies that aren’t easily found in Singapore.
The main attraction is, of course, the aforementioned Prime drinks from celebrity YouTubers and former boxing rivals KSI and Logan Paul, which start from $15 and go up to $400. Prime drinks tend to be expensive because they’re extremely popular with teens and often sell out; rare flavours or bottles with special designs can sometimes fetch higher prices.
Other interesting finds include Mr Beast Feastables ($12), Fruit Roll-ups ($2), Airheads candy bars (from $1), Takis (from $4), Jolly Rancher candies ($8.50), and freeze-dried Astronaut Ice-cream Sandwiches ($15). Because prices for their products are generally on the steep side, the store offers discounted prices for students – for instance, selected Prime drinks are $10, Jolly Ranchers are $6.50, and Mr Beast Feastables are $8 with valid student IDs.
The SGFR Store currently has two outlets in Siglap and Tampines, and a vending machine in 111 Somerset.
