Stories centred on courage, imagination and the human connection are explored in this year’s vOilah! French Film Festival. The annual event is a vibrant and exciting showcase of fresh voices, emerging talent and established directors in the French film scene, and it’s back for its 41st edition with 20 films screening across the island.
From book-to-film adaptations to sci-fi thrillers to family-friendly adventures, there’s a movie for everyone. Inspired by real events, 13 Days 13 Nights, which premiered at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, follows the intense journey of an elite crew of soldiers who are desperate to flee Afghanistan’s capital city as the Taliban closes in. Couture, on the other hand, stars Angelina Jolie as a filmmaker whose life gets entangled with two others during Paris Fashion Week.
There’s also a selection of whimsical tales and heartwarming stories of friendship for all ages to enjoy. Moon the Panda follows a 12-year-old’s encounter with a lost panda cub, while the animated film Little Amélie or the Character of Rain narrates the life of a Belgian girl growing up in Japan.
On top of the film screenings, there are also exclusive workshops and Q&A sessions to attend. The director of Moon the Panda, Gilles de Maistre, and Couture actor Garance Marillier are also expected to make appearances at select screenings.
