Time Out says

A Singaporean twist on block parties is coming to Hideout Coffee Bar. Organised by Scrach Marcs and I_Entity, What’s Your Flavour? Block Party is inspired by the street parties that helped shape the hip-hop scene in New York during the ’70s and ’80s. For one night only, the shophouse at Mackenzie Road will transform its space into a vibrant East-meets-West showcase, where homegrown creatives, hip-hop artists and local subcultures gather to celebrate music, perform, and compete in friendly competitions.

One of the evening’s highlights is a performance that pairs breaking with silat, drawing on the similarities of both traditions. And if you’ve got bars, then it’s time to flex those freestyle skills. Step up to the mic and jump into the cyphers to face off against your competition. Give it your all, though, as the winner might even walk away with cash prizes.

Local MC Alif Aircho is set to host the festivities, while producer-composer Fauxe takes care of the night’s soundtrack with his trippy concoction of hip-hop, funk, soul and Southeast Asian melodies. Elsewhere, The Demster’s Adam Wang will design a live graffiti mural that combines Western street art with Asian influences such as Chinese calligraphy. Be sure to stick around so you can add your own touch to the finished piece.
