Arab artists from Morocco and Australia explore female identity in this Casula Powerhouse exhibition

How does the experience of being female transcend our geographic and cultural boundaries? Six Arab women artists from Morocco and Australia explore ideas of female identity and body politics in the domestic and public realms in a new exhibition in conjunction with the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Canberra. Works from Moroccan artists Safaa Erruas, Batoul Shimi and Fatima Mazmouz will feature alongside those from acclaimed Moroccan-Australian artists, including Cherine Fahd, Fatima Killeen and Ms Saffaa, the Sydney-based founder of the viral #iammyownguardian campaign against Saudi Arabia’s discriminatory guardianship laws. The exhibition will officially kick off with a panel discussion on October 7 as the artists discuss their shared experiences.
