Keep the kiddos occupied and creatively engaged over the winter holidays with drama workshops by the Australian Theatre for Young People (ATYP). The week-long programs are suitable for kindergarten to year twelve, and cover acting, singing, storytelling, musical theatre, stagecraft, comedy and filmmaking – all taught by working actors and industry professionals.
Aspiring young thespians can practice accents or auditioning, take a screen acting intensive class, or develop into a true triple threat at a musical theatre class. Teens interested in getting behind the camera can make their own horror films or learn how to investigate scene work. The youngest kids will be guided through creating a group show to be performed at the end of the week for friends and family, which is both an exercise in collaboration and a showcase of utter adorableness.
The ATYP workshops are being offered at venues around the city, with after-class childcare available at some locations. Classes run June 28 to July 9 and can be booked through the ATYP website.
