If you’ve already maxed out your houseplant budget for the month, head to greenery hub Root’d in Glebe this weekend. This leaf-focused collaborative retail space is hosting a plant swap so you can diversify your living room forest while you pick up gardening tips at talks and peruse market stalls.
The main part of the two-hour Sunday arvo event is swapping plants, so bring at least two healthy cuttings – they can be in pots or bare-rooted – and take home a few fresh green friends. There’ll be a general swapping zone, plus a specific direct swap for rarer varieties (make sure your offerings are labeled to make life easy). You may end up with a larger bunch of greenery than what you walked in with, as Root’d will supply some extras to beef up the range of species.
But wait, there’s more gardening fun to be had. In addition to the plant swap, there will also be a stall for swapping gardening books, talks and demonstrations to help you grow at home, plus live music, snacks and drinks for plant-trading fuel (yep, this plant swap is fully catered). This event comes with a $25 price tag, so you will need to dip into your leafy fund after all. But with eats, gardening insights and plenty of plant winnings to be had, we reckon you’re coming out on top.
