Time Out says

Discuss peacemaking solutions and honour the world’s most inspiring change-makers

The Sydney Peace Foundation champions initiatives, groups and individuals working to find peaceful solutions to violence and injustice around the world. Each year, they award the Sydney Peace Prize to a individual making remarkable contributions to social justice in their field, while bringing the local community together to discuss global issues and support peaceful solutions.

This year, the honour is being awarded to American economist Joseph Stiglitz, who is an influential advocate for global economic justice and equality. In his address at the awards ceremony, he will share his experiences in his leading role at the World Bank, as the chairman of the US president’s Council of Economic Advisers and in leading the global conversation about the growing crisis of economic inequality.
