Celebrate First Nations resilience with hands-on workshops, music, storytelling and tours

Ngalu warrawi marri, meaning ‘We Stand Strong’, is a three-hour event at the Australian Museum curated by Bundjalung facilitator Courtney Marsh and Wiradjuri facilitator Nathan Mudyi Sentance.

It includes a live podcast recording for Broriginals, hosted by Travis and Texas De Vries who give tongue-in-cheek answers to crowdsourced questions on how to be a better Aboriginal (tickets for this are sold separately at $25pp).

There’s also music from Wiradjuri woman DJ Sovtrax called Sovereign Trax, and Race Matters by FBi Radio host Sara Khan and special guests.

Naarm-based Wiradjuri artist Charlotte Allingham aka Coffinbirth will talk about how she uses art to highlight First Nation peoples’ continued resistance, and to change perceptions about history and national identity.

There’ll also be a hands-on jewellery workshop with Charlie Williams, poetry and storytelling from Gomeroi spoken word artist Rob Waters and IndigiHack Spot Tours – a fun tour of the museum in which you can explore and question colonial bias in cultural spaces.
