On the shortest day of the year, get up to see the sunrise from Elizabeth Bay House before you go to work

Elizabeth Bay House is in perfect alignment to catch the morning sunrise on winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, creating a striking view as the sun rises over the horizon. Luckily, Sydney Living Museums don’t want to keep this spectacular view all to themselves – they’re hosting two breakfast tours of the House where you can admire the dawn sunshine and learn a bit about it from Sydney Observatory’s curator of astronomy Andrew Jacob. Arrive at 6.30am for a hot drink and pastry in the drawing room, tour the House, and take beautiful pictures before you get to work. It’ll be one very productive winter morning.
