There’s no shortage of holiday displays in Tokyo, with festive illuminations and jaw-dropping Christmas trees scattered across the capital. This year in particular, we’re seeing some ingenious designs like the multiple Harry Potter trees in Marunouchi and the stunning Ruffle Christmas Tree Dress by fashion designer Tomo Koizumi at The Tokyo Edition.

Just when we thought we’d seen it all, a Takashi Murakami Christmas tree has just popped up in Omotesando. You’ll find the fun tree outside the new Hublot store on Omotesando Dori, which opened its doors on December 4.

In true Murakami style, the Christmas tree features the artist’s iconic smiley rainbow flowers, along with silver ornaments and a big flower on top instead of a star. The colourful Murakami tree will be on display outside the shop until Christmas Day.

You can hardly miss the holiday display as the entire Hublot storefront and nearby staircase are covered in Murakami’s rainbow flower pattern. The takeover coincides with the release of Hublot’s new Takashi Murakami Sapphire Rainbow watch, which is limited to just 100 pieces.

There are also special Murakami-themed gachapon and vending machines outside the store featuring original merch. The machines only accept special coins supplied by Hublot, and you can receive them by answering a questionnaire and sharing your photos of the tree while visiting the store. Or splash out and buy a watch at the store, to receive coins as a reward. Do note that the machines are only open for use on weekends.
