UPDATE: Electric Zoo day three has been cancelled

It's only been five years since Made Event tossed its first Electric Zoo in the open air at Randall's Island—but in that short space of time, the three-day Labor Day weekend festival has become a don't-miss attraction on the electronic-dance-music circuit, attracting EDM fans from throughout the area and around the world. This year's lineup, as in past years, is heavy on the superstar-DJ action—David Guetta, Diplo and Tiësto are just a few of the big names on hand—but there will be plenty of less bombastic sounds for those looking for something on the underground tip, too.

Electric Zoo 2013: Day by day

Electric Zoo 2013 Day One

  • Price band: 4/4
  • Critics choice

Made Event's Electric Zoo hits the half-decade mark bigger than ever—there are so many brand-name EDM artists on hand that the festival requires two separate main stages to squeeze them all in. Among the 50 or so attractions: Avicii, Above & Beyond, Knife Party, Benny Benassi, Martin Solveig, Ferry Corsten, Baauer, Excision and Flux Pavilion. As in past years, the undergrounders will flock to the Sunday School Grove, where Cassy, Dixon, Four Tet, Scuba and the mighty Danny Tenaglia will be serving up the beats. The party wraps at midnight.

Electric Zoo 2013 Day Two

  • Price band: 4/4
  • Critics choice

The megafest continues with another massive assemblage of electronic dance music's elder statesmen and young guns, with David Guetta, Tiësto, Bassnectar, Dada Life, Boys Noize, Moderat, A-Trak, John Digweed and Laurent Garnier among the fifty or so stars scattered across five stages. What happens if it rains? Don't worry—it won't. (But just in case, there are plenty of tented areas.) At midnight, everyone heads off to dreamland—or, more likely, the after-parties.
