Neighborhood: Kendall West

Miami’s crowds mean absolutely nothing when you’re staying at an Airbnb with a private lake. Complete with a wooden deck for soaking up the afternoon sun, this seven-bedroom mansion in Miami’s West End is pretty much an all-inclusive resort. There’s the lake, an artifical beach, basketball and tennis courts, and a big green lawn with mini golf, corn hole and a ping pong table. Inside, the first floor is a massive open space with a full modern kitchen, dining room and living room. There’s a pool table there somewhere within the leftover space. Upstairs, the four bathrooms are pretty and pristine, and the seven bedrooms all have queen beds except the primary room, which of course carries a king. 

Time Out tip: Embrace Miami’s Cuban culture and stop by El Palacio de los Jugos for lunch. It also sells Latin groceries, and is about a five-minute drive away.

As far as Miami villas go this one’s a rare find that offers affordable luxury. Inside are three bedrooms, a fully-equipped kitchen, a bright dining space and two full bathrooms, one with a deep tub to sink into. Outside is a Barbie dreamland. The patio walls are painted pastel pink with fun stripes of light blue and orange in between, and there's a heated pool and jacuzzi, as well as an outdoor kitchen, BBQ and lounge with a TV. Now all there is to decide is who’s going to be in charge of the BBQ.

Time Out tip: If you’re visiting for Ultra Music Festival, this Airbnb is close to the festival grounds and will save you loads of commute time.

Perks: You’re a five-minute walk from Palacio de Jugo, famous for fresh juices and a fresh buffet of Cuban cuisine.

The living room is yellow, the kitchen is aquamarine, the dining room interior is made of dark wood and the stunning bathroom is accented with gold. The kitchen is stocked, both bedrooms are spacious and dangerously comfortable and the living room has a projector that connects to your laptop to stream all your favorite shows. Both are tiled and beautiful, but the master bath has a standalone tub surrounded with floor-to-ceiling windows to bathe while taking in the backyard’s thick and lush surroundings.

Neighborhood: Shenandoah / Coral Way

Like a scene from Bali, or (oddly similar) an episode of Love Island, this six-person Airbnb feels less like a house and more like a villa in secluded paradise. The home is surrounded by flora from front to back, and inside, the interiors are curated and rustic, blending from one room to the next. But it’s the backyard that really steals hearts. You’ll find little cabanas with multiple lounges, a shaded patio with a dining table and more cushioned seating, woven hammocks and pendant lamps, and all beach and poolside essentials to relax by the crystal blue round pool. 

Time Out tip: The home is in residential area, and a car is highly recommended. However, wonderful Mexican pastries at Oh My Concha! bakery are only a 10-minute walk away.

Neighborhood: Westview

Bachelors, bachelorettes and big retreaters, be warned. This five-bedroom, five full-bath mansion in Westview has endless tricks up its sleeve. Aside from a groovy graffiti wall in one of the common areas, next to the giant pool table and indoor hammock, there’s not much decor going on, but that’s the last thing on your mind here. This home isn’t for interior design, it’s for house parties (approved by your host, of course). There's a huge kitchen, a movie theater, an impressve all-glass wine cellar and a huge outdoor pool and patio for elite Miami sun-bathing in privacy. Kayaks are available to paddle through the lake to its little private island, and when you’re done dancing in South Beach, you can continue the party at home in the private night club—trippy lights and all. 

Time Out tip: The neighborhood is a bit barren, but there are a bunch of hole-in-the-wall type restaurants that cook up great Latin and Caribbean food, and are worth visiting, from fast-food style Jamaican at Juici Patties, to Bahamian seafood at Conch Heaven and BBQ at Mama Lucy’s Home Style Cooking.

As for the condo, it comes fully equipped so you can eat, drink and sleep in a space that feels just like home. A worthy mention is the faux grass-lined balcony giving you a breath of fresh air whenever you need it.

Time Out tip: This treehouse is best for those who seek something unique and adventurous in the heart of Miami. It has quite a few steep and narrow steps, which could be a struggle for those with mobility issues, and the bathroom is a quick walk from the treehouse. Watch your step if you have to take a midnight trip.

Neighborhood: Biscsayne Park

Perhaps the biggest risk in booking this Airbnb is that you might never want to leave it. This small cottage suite is colorfully decorated, with a large bed, couch, TV and bright, tiled bathroom. There’s no kitchen, but there’s a fridge and microwave to store leftovers from Miami’s vibrant food scene or a simple but glorious ‘Pub sub’ from the Publix grocery store, a five minute drive away. The beaches near Bal Harbor are about a 15-minute drive, but good luck getting there when the backyard you’re in is a tempting oasis in itself. There’s a sapphire blue pool, overhead string lights, a tiki hut lounge and lush palms and Florida foliage surrounding the entire space. When and if you do finally manage to escape and explore, you’re just a short jump from the picturesque  neighborhood of Surfside.
