Time Out says

Jazz and live music festival held at various venues throughout Accra. Visual art exhibitions, movie screenings, conferences, workshops for technicians in the performing art sector and masterclasses for musicians. The aim is to bring the jazz buzz back to Accra as it was in the 1960s, a time when the jazz scene was a huge element of the city's music scene.

Description :

Workshop for brass musicians wishing to learn or improve their techniques:

column of air (breathing, diaphragm, abdominal belt...), singing, sounds spun, "buzz", "mask", double sounds, note pedals, etc... (Singers and

instrumentalists who wish to deepen their knowledge of breath control are welcome). There will be a thorough study of the modes and major and minor

scales and arpeggios, diminished scales, and altered and enhanced scales.

Description: As a performance art, poetry shares much with jazz, both dependent on a combination of subtle elements to deliver the ultimate experience.

In this workshop, Nii Ayikwei Parkes, award-winning Ghanaian author of Tail of the Blue Bird (Winner of 2014 Prix Mahogany - France, Shortlisted for the

Commonwealth Prize 2010, A Die Welt Top-10 Crime Book 2010 in Germany), a Jazz lover and poet, explores how these commonalities - variances in tone

and volume, the use of silences and repetition - can be leveraged to deliver better poetry in performance.

recording engineering and production techniques on location in Vivivi Studios located in West Legon. Participants will record live drums, bass, guitar,

keyboard, and vocals as well as be introduced to basic mixing approaches. Musicians, producers, and composers and all welcome to apply for the 10
