2020 is a tough time for both Asian and global cocktail scene – the coronavirus pandemic results in closure of watering holes around the world. But the announcement of Asia's 50 Best Bars 2020 gives Bangkok cocktail bars a reason for celebration. The city's five cocktail institutions have managed to secure the spots in Asia's 50 Best bars 2020 lists, announced last night (15 May) in Singapore.
Jazz sanctuary The Bamboo Bar at Mandarin Oriental is ranked at number 7, picking up the top spot among the rest of Bangkok bars.
Silom cocktail den Vesper whose cocktail menu revolves around the "Contrast" concept sees a dramatic climb from last year and secures 11th place.
Charoenkrung tropical-theme bar Tropic City, Thonglor speakeasy Rabbit Hole and theater-theme cocktail bar Backstage Cocktail Bar are placed at No. 24, No. 31 and No. 33 respectively.
Claiming the crown is Jigger and Pony in Singapore, defeating last year's winner The Old Man from Hong Kong.
