Despite eight months of lockdown closure, BKK Social Club debuts at No. 90 on this year’s World’s 50 Best Bars list

Tropic City and Four Seasons Bangkok’s BKK Social Club are the only Bangkok bars that have made it to the extended list of the global edition of the 50 Best this year.

Prior to the reveal of 2021’s edition of the World’s 50 Best Bars on December 7, the Oscar-equivalent bar award has unveiled the extended 51-100 list, which sees two bars in Bangkok that receive the nods this year.

Tropic City is the first one that is placed at number 62. The entry is the bar’s return to the global rank after it was awarded with number 92 back in 2019. This Charoenkrung favorite spot is also awarded with no. 22 on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars earlier this year.

The gasp-worthy news, however, goes to the debut of BKK Social Club. The swanky drinkery at Four Seasons Bangkok was introduced to the city’s nightlife scene back in December 2020, right before the entertainment venues were ordered shut due to the widespread outbreak of coronavirus.

However, the bar has reopened since December 1, 2021, which marks its fifth month of operations (after the eight-month closure between April and November)—and off to a really, really good start, the Social Club is granted with a respected accolade from the 50 Best people as the 90th best bar in the world.

Congratulations to both Tropic City and BKK Social Club once again, and stay tuned for the complete list of the World’s 50 Best Bars coming next week.
