Every year, Time Out surveys its readers from all over the world for the Time Out Index survey. This year more than 20,000 people answered the question: what’s the coolest street in your city?

For Boston, the answer was Newbury Street!

I’ve been thinking this all summer long, Newbury Street is officially cool again. Not that it ever stopped being cool, just that it has the vibrancy that I think we all remember it having, but may have drifted off in the past few years, is back.

Located in the heart of Back Bay, Newbury Street has always been known for its designer shops and historic brownstones. But this summer it has also been home to some of the hottest openings across Boston.

Here is our ideal night out on Newbury Street:

Start with a cocktail or two at Hecate, Boston’s coolest new bar. This speakeasy is inspired by the Greek goddess of witchcraft, and you will see why as soon as you walk through its alleyway door into what also has to be the darkest restaurant in Boston—seriously your eyes will have to adjust, the lighting is dim.

Next, head down the street for dinner at Faccia Brutta. The shareable small plates and lively patio are just the place to savor all that is left of the warm weather here in Boston. Do not skip the crudos, they are excellent.

And last but not least, for the nights you don’t want to end, book a room at The Newbury. This chic hotel overlooks Boston Common and is one of those places that is always filled with locals and visitors because it is just that cool.
