Estereo (2450 N Milwaukee Ave) just opened in early July, but damn if it isn’t already busy. The new all-day bar and café from the group that has also plied us with drinks at Sportsman’s Club and Queen Mary Tavern is perfectly inviting, with garage door–style windows and a Latin American vibe, from the drinks to the decor to the tunes on vinyl, all in Logan Square.
While you can order any cocktail you want or play it safe with a great local beer, we recommend you start with a Breezy. The house highball comes in a plastic, branded “Breezy” cup with a lovely sprig of mint, and it’s truly like you’re sipping on something strong out in some remote tropical location (i.e. not on the corner of Milwaukee and Sacramento avenues). It’s all part of the experience of having a drink at Estereo, where you’re transported much farther out than Logan Square. The Breezy pairs your spirit of choice (we recommend gin) with yerba mate, Falernum, soda and lime. Get there early, grab a table by the window, order a Breezy and everything will be okay.
