Where to celebrate National S'mores Day in Chicago

Because we can't go a day in this country without proclaiming another ridiculous food holiday, today is National S'mores Day. Hey, at least this one is sweet. We rounded up some of our favorite s'mores-themed desserts to snag before the day is over.

But first, a fun s'mores fact: The Campfire Marshmallows company wrote a recipe for s'mores (yes, really, there was a recipe for s'mores) in the 1920s. It was called the "graham cracker sandwich." Mmm.

Now, what's for dessert?

S'mores + doughnuts = the perfect treat at Beaver's Donuts. What more do we need to say?

S'mores pie is abundant in Chicago. And we mean abundant. Grab it at Baker Miller, Bang Bang and Blaze Pizza.

Insomnia Cookies and Beatrix make s'mores cookies—and since everyone should like cookies, this is our pick for celebrating National S'mores Day.

Find an upscale take on s'mores at Ampersand Wine Bar, with marshmallows, bittersweet chocolate brownie, espresso chocolate sauce and graham cracker sauce. There's also a s'mores souffle at the Promontory for more of the fancy campfire snack.

Flo and Santos and Dimo's both serve s'mores pizza, so grab a slice of your favorite 'za and a dessert slice.

Without leaving the city, the most authentic s'mores experience you can have is at Hamburger Mary's. They serve the Mary Tyler S'mores, which is essentially all the s'mores fixings with a tableside campfire for you to build your own.
