The Museum of Science and Industry has announced that it will reopen to the public on March 7, and Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Window and more costumed crusaders will be there to greet visitors. The previously announced “Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes” exhibition that was set to debut last October will open with the Hyde Park institution, allowing guests to explore a collection of more than 300 artifacts, including costumes, props and original art. MSI members will get exclusive access to the exhibition during Member Day, which run from March 4–6.

The traveling exhibit originated at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle and takes cues from the popular Marvel cinematic universe. There's a mirrored room inspired by the trippy visuals of Doctor Strange and a recreation of Tony Stark's lab as it appeared in the Iron Man films, stocked with multiple versions of Iron Man armor. Visitors can also check out an interactive augmented reality experience that allows them to control a virtual Iron Man suit and test its capabilities.

Just like all of the other Chicago museums reopening under Tier 1 mitigations, MSI is implementing a variety of safety precautions that visitors must adhere to. These include a reduced capacity, required use of face covers, social distancing requirements and one-way paths through exhibitions. Some interactive features within the exhibition may be unavailable to reduce frequently touched surfaces, though guests will be issued a stylus so that they can interact with touch screens.

Admission to the “Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes” requires a timed ticket ($18 for adults, $14 for kids ages 3–11), in addition to regular MSI admission fees. Tickets are on sale now via the MSI website and the exhibit is scheduled to run through October 24.
