If you've got Monday off for the Fourth of July, there's nothing wrong with firing up the grill and cracking open some craft beer at home. Or you can take it easy and have Chicago restaurants do the hard work. Before you stake out a spot to watch the fireworks, check out everything from deals on scones to cocktail specials all weekend long.
RECOMMENDED: 4th of July fireworks, events and deals
Maybe you partied a little too hard over the weekend and are taking the 4th to recover—if so, head over to Nico Osteria, where they'll be serving the typically weekend-only brunch menu, and you'll be able to nosh on a grilled Italian sausage or knock back rosé (since hair of the dog makes everything better).
For a 4th of July special you can feel good about indulging in, Lottie's will serve specials that will raise money for 1Fur1 Foundation's service dogs program. Specials include $4 for two Chicago-style hot dogs, $4 Fireball shots and $3.50 Samuel Adams Summertime pints. Bring your pooch, there will also be a fro-yo special for the dogs.
From July 2–4 from 10am–4pm, KICK will serve its brunch menu with Cap'n Crunch challah French toast and burgers. But the restaurant will also be serving a few specials like a Red, White and Blue Stack—red velvet, buttermilk and blueberry pancakes for $10, an All American pulled pork sandwich with cornbread and potatoes for $12 and 1776 Bourbon shots for $5.
If you're looking for a distinctly different way to celebrate the 4th of July weekend, head to Frontier. On Saturday, July 2 starting at 1pm, Frontier will host an Americana Pig Luau with an all-you-can-eat smoked pig and sides. Tiki cocktails will also be served a la carte. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased here.
