In commemoration of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, view the traditional craftsmanship of the region still recovering from the disaster. On display are 70 objects encompassing pottery, lacquer ware, textiles, basket weaving, metalwork and woodwork - the epitome of the highly-developed techniques and functional elegance of these implements. Highlights include kogin embroidery from Aomori, magewappa and kabazaiku woodcraft from Akita, woven back pads known as bandori from Yamagata, woodblock prints by Shiko Munakata, screens and textiles by Keisuke Serizawa, as well as ceramics by Shoji Hamada and Kanjiro Kawai.
