Time Out says

Note: Bakita is now closed

By Sam Coleman

Yes yes, the hip bars are out in a pack, looking as slick and cool as the werewolves in ‘Twilight’. The first was Ecoba, making the downtown feel a dis on what it traditionally gets all the props for: great innovative bars and clubs. But now it looks like it’s a posse as Bakita, the newest place on Jalan Berangan and Nagasari, is the brother of Ecoba; Michael Ham of Ecoba and Tham Vijendra of Bakita are old school buds. Figures.

Now for the fawning and raving: Bakita is amazing, casual yet sophisticated, laid back yet – going upstairs – like your own private cocktail club. It’s taken over the failure known as La Terrace, practically an eyesore on the up-and-coming baby Changkat of Jalan Berangan, and turned it into the coolest new space in the area.

They have a great array of specialty beers (try the Belgian cherry beer, the Flying Dogs brand and Fuller’s as well), all served in a walk-in meat locker type cooler straight out of Tribeca, 5 degrees Celsius to keep beer at its best. But wait until you see what they have launched up top, a beautiful new cocktail space that’s going to town with good music and vibe. Trust us; this is one of the new alpha places in town
