Time Out says

The ultimate comfort food on a rainy day, the Chinese steamboat or hot pot is a comfortable, communal dining experience that involves cooking your own vegetables, noodles, meat and seafood in a steaming pot of soup. Most restaurants offer more than one soup base – usually a plain broth, possibly a vegetarian option, and usually a spicy option such as tom yum. If the restaurant has  wo-in-one pots, you can have two soups for some variety. You’ll be able to find steamboat restaurants in almost every city, and you can’t really go wrong when you pick steamboat for a family meal. Most outlets are pretty reliable with spreads of frozen seafood, raw meat and more ready to be cooked. For something a little different, head to Coconut Steamboat; instead of the usual plain or tom yum soup, their signature broth is cooked using fresh coconut water and kampong chicken, which gives the soup an intoxicating natural sweetness.
