Kenduri Kendara

Presented by The Keepers Studio in collaboration with Sisters in Islam, Kenduri Kendara is a trio of interactive plays that touch on the topics of food, cultural identity, love, and the soul from an Islamic standpoint. The plays ‘Gerobok’, ‘Suap’ and ‘Samar’ each tell a certain story pertaining to a theme – ‘Gerobok’ explores the hijab and how it’s tethered to the participants’ memories and identity; ‘Suap’ is a hand-to-mouth feeding ritual which explores the ability of this ritual to bond individuals; and ‘Samar’ is a series of vignettes that depict a couple that falls in and out of love. The production is in Malay with English subtitles.
