Does watching violence desensitize us to it? That's the question at the heart of Jordan Wolfson's new virtual reality film Real Violence. Audience members watch as a man beats another to death with a baseball bat, whilst over the top plays the disconcertingly happy sounds of a Hebrew Hanukkah prayer. The work aims to make the viewer aware of the disconnection between us and the violence we witness thanks to the placing of a screen.
