Time Out says

This presentation of Alexander Calder’s paintings on paper has two parts: one in New York and the second in London. Though perhaps more well known for his radical sculpting methods, Calder also painted a series of works in gouache in 1953, which he continued to work on for the rest of his life. Each painting was done quickly, representing spontaneous impressions of life while simultaneously echoing the angularity and kinectism of his sculptural works.
