The gallery will be transformed into a mock theatre, proscenium arch and all for the screening of Singh’s three-hour performance, The Humans following it’s premiere at Witte de With, Amsterdam and Performa 2013, New York. The theatrical farce - part play, part opera - focuses around two contrasting characters, a sculptor called Charles Ray who has a penchant for lengthy monologues and a Rabbit Queen. A cast of mask-wearing revellers joins this odd match as Singh’s amusing exploration of society unfolds. Paraphernalia from the production including masks, watercolours of costume designs and photographs will be displayed in the adjacent gallery space, creating an archive and celebration of Singh fabricated universe.
There will be two screenings a day at 10.30am and 2.30pm.
