The Gothic Sensibility: Goths and "Gloomths" with Romany Reagan, Friday October 2nd 2015

For those not familiar with the Barts Pathology museum, well I am frankly surprised. The curator, Carla Valentine, has been spreading the word very succesffuly in recent years, so much so that she was recently awarded the Major Contribution to the Understanding of Death Award and this year's Good Funeral Awards. On Friday we were lucky enough to be present to hear  Romany Reagan discuss the Goth Sensibility in literature, film and music. This was a rare treat, beautifully illustrated with slides in the atmospheric surroundings of the museum with  the remains of thousands looking on. The mortini cocktails added to the sense of the gothic and occasion. If you get a chance to attend any of the talks or events then I thoroughly recommend you do so because it must be one of the most fabulous spaces in central London, and Carla and her team of wonderful volunteers will make everyone feel very welcome, entertained and informed.

An amazing museum, which is only open for events. They run a packed calendar of talks and workshops, including taxidermy and covering all kinds of topics. The specimens on show are mostly from the last century and before and some are pretty gruesome but they all have information alongside to keep those brain cells working. Definitely worth a visit!
