Claire Bishop: Artificial Hells

Curator and art historian Claire Bishop discusses social engagement in contemporary art practice, in connection with her new book 'Artificial Hells: Art and the politics of Spectatorship'. The book charts the history of particpatory art in the twentieth century from Futurism and Dada through Situationist happenings, 1970s community arts and events that blur boundaries between art and life.
