Ed Baynard

During his lifetime, Ed Baynard worked as a graphic designer for The Beatles and a clothing designer for Jimi Hendrix. He is, however, largely unknown either for his work with rock stars or his own artworks. This exhibition at Stephen Friedman is the first solo show for the US artist in Europe. His simplified paintings are based around classic still-life fodder (flowers, vases, bowls) with plain, light backgrounds. His attractively streamlined style has echoes of traditional Japanese art.
