Throughout the festive season, the gallery’s window space becomes a screening platform for eight commissioned silent films about the local area.
Following on from the success of turning the gallery's window space into a screening platform last year, the gallery will once again present eight newly commissioned silent films inspired by Essex Road over the festive season. Screened seven days a week between 4pm and 11pm, each film at five minutes or shorter draws on the rich cultural history of the mile-long Islington street. From the female ritual of the hen night in Helen Benigson's film to Jordan Baseman's psychedelic portrait of the Essex Road at night, the individuality of this Islington neighbourhood is revealed.
