Francesco Clemente: Emblems of Transformation

Inspired by Buddhist and Hindu symbolism, the Italian artist’s long-standing connection with India is exceptionally emotive in this series of small-scale watercolours. Comprising 108 paintings, which reference the number of beads on a japa mala commonly used during prayer, this collection of delicately detailed works is symbolic of love and war.
