Last week, I popped in to the Through the Headset: 2 exhibition, and spent over an hour there I would guess. The art gallery looks far barer than typical, but this was no typical exhibition. It is an annual display of Virtual Reality work, a very new experience for me. I had never really used VR in this way, and never had I seen such wonderful use of the technology. One can only wonder what the future holds. Although, VR experiences are very isolating, and you had to wait your turn, because each experience is personal, and lasts 5 minutes.
The art was wonderful, although as it's such a new technology, I would have perhaps liked more training/explanation before we began trying to make the headsets work. The poor woman on the desk was always standing up to help other visitors, and I can't imagine she got much else done! The gallery itself is quite small, and has a couple of meeting rooms/offices coming off the upstairs room which made it unclear where we were allowed to go. I didn't notice any toilets.
Overall, as I had two guests in town, it was a much more interesting art experience than trundelling through the National gallery again!
