Jerwood Space

Part of a larger set-up of theatre and dance spaces (and a great café), the Jerwood had an erratic visual arts presence until recently. Now six awards, including the Jerwood Sculpture Prize, the Jerwood Contemporary Painters and the Jerwood Contemporary Makers are grouped under the banner Jerwood Visual Arts. In the gallery proper there's a safe bet of fresh, emerging talent with work spilling on to the walls of the café. The Art Walls in the courtyard space are also a good place to see contemporary, inventive curating or you can stand and admire Don Brown's alfresco aluminum sculpture – of himself.
