Heal's

This review is for The Ambrose Cafe at Heal’s.

The little surprise of a cafe is hidden behind the rugs section on the first floor of the massive Heal’s store in Tottenham Court Road. I’m using ‘hidden’ literally, as there is almost no signage, so you have to know where you are going. As it was raining and altogether miserable outside, it was great to be tucked away in this neat brasserie-style café. I’m not normally the one for in-store dining, but this is a good one to know: the food is good, they serve cucumber water and there’s table service so you are not gonna lose your table waiting for a cup of coffee. On the negative side, WiFi wasn’t working and the service got slightly patchy: once the regular routine was done with and we dared to linger, they basically forgot about us and it took quite an effort to flag them.
