Jerwood Encounters: Family Politics

With the commissioned work, folios, conversations and writings from an international plethora of artists, Photoworks has put together a group exhibition which seeks to explore the idea of family and the wider political systems at play through the representations of it. As both a social construct and a site of intimate relationships, the concept of family provides a host of possibilities for the artist, and here you’ll see how these contradicting roles are mirrored in family photography. You’ll never look at your own snaps in the same light again.
