Jonathan Monk: I ♥ 1984

The British artist presents works of a biographical nature that delve into his personal legacy, alongside a series of reinterpretations of works by artists including Jeff Koons and Bernd and Hilla Becher that have influenced his practice to explore artistic heritage. Robert Smithson’s ‘Non Site’ series, which excavated earth from various locations, is used as a the starting point for Monk’s installation seven pallets that contain rocks collected from seven Middle Eastern contested territories.
