Koen Vanmechelen: Darwin's Dream

Art meets science in Koen Vanmechelen’s ‘The Cosmopolitan Chicken’ project. The Belgian artist has cross-bred roosters and hens from around the world for the past 15 years to create a truly multicultural chicken and to demonstrate the power and importance of genetic diversity. Here, Vanmechelen presents the project through an immersive installation that includes photographic portraits of the 18 generations of chickens, alongside taxidermy specimens.
