For her first solo exhibition, Japanese photographer Makiko looks to the former mining colony of Hashima, known as ‘Gunkanjima’ (‘Battleship Island’). Deserted since 1974, the island off the coast near Nagasaki is a post-industrial ghost town, and the results are some hauntingly beautiful monochrome images. On display in the Atrium Gallery.
