Four months after the winners of the World Press Photo Contest 2026 were unveiled, the accompanying exhibition is finally landing in London. The competition receives tens of thousands of entries every year and pays homage to the incredible independent photojournalism and documentary photography going on across the world. Following the awards, the longlisted and winning imagery head on global exhibition tour.  This year’s harrowing and affecting finalists included an aerial photograph of a polar bear feeding on an enormous whale carcass in Svalbard; an image of a man named Mr Kong making a ‘desperate plea’ as a fire rages at the Wang Fuk Court housing complex in Tai Po and a photograph of Palestinians climbing onto an aid truck as it enters the Gaza Strip. The top honour was awarded to American photographer Carol Guzy for her image of distraught young girls clinging to their father as he’s detained by ICE agents following an immigration hearing in New York City. They’ll be on show at the MPB Gallery in Bermondsey from the end of August and through September.
