Originally shown at the Edinburgh Arts Festival 2019, these new artworks by Nathan Coley are based on extracts from a huge 19th century scenic wallpaper showing images of North America as seen through the eyes of European settlers. Created by a French company, the wallpaper has found its way into numerous stately homes across the globe, including the famous Diplomatic Room of the White House. Coley, a Turner Prize nominee, has emblazoned the vintage paper with words and phrases that subtly alter or critique the original images.
